Oh, the magic hat, the magic hat! It moved like this and it moved like that! Where will it land next? One day from out of the blue a Magic Hat comes to town. Each time it lands on someone the hat transforms the person into an animal. But we don't know what type of animal it will be until we turn the page. Then all of sudden a wizard appears and turns everyone back to their normal selves. And when the magic hat lands on the wizard's head, what do you think will happen?
Books with a strong rhyme and rhythm emphasise some of the sounds that make up words. Reading rhyming books is one of the ways you can help your child to learn to hear the smaller sounds in words. Your child will need this skill later on when they start to learn to read and need to sound out words.
